Expert of the Week: Alanus von Radecki – “Cities are the places where we need to solve the great challenges of our time”
Our Expert of the Week Alanus von Radecki is an experienced Head of Urban Governance Innovation.
“I think cities are the places where we need to solve the great challenges of our time: climate change, social inequality, environmental pollution, demographic change et cetera. I also think that social and technological innovations are the main enablers that will help cities deal with these challenges.”
One of his largest challenges in the past was to develop and manage the Fraunhofer innovation network “Morgenstadt” (City of the Future) with 25 companies, 15 cities and 12 research organizations. The most important sectors for the cities of tomorrow are energy, mobility, governance, resources, communications and buildings.
“I work with municipalities and urban organizations to increase their capacity for becoming innovation leaders to plan, finance, build and operate smarter and more sustainable urban systems.”
